Gavin Reid, IELTS Writing specialist

I'm Gavin Reid. I have an MA Applied Linguistics & TESOL, Cambridge DELTA, and over fifteen years' experience teaching IELTS and English across the UK, Spain and Vietnam. I also write exam content for Trinity, Oxford International and the British Council, so I know what IELTS Task 1 examiners actually reward. Every lesson here is mine; the AI only gives feedback.

Why this is different

Most IELTS tools wrap a chatbot around the band descriptors and call it a course. The lessons here are different: every language function, every target phrase, every worked example is hand-crafted by an IELTS teacher with 15 years' experience grading Task 1. AI does the marking instantly against examiner criteria. The curriculum is human.

How a lesson works
  1. Step 1 · Write
    Write what you know

Four sentences about a Task 1 chart, in your own words.

  2. Step 2 · Learn
    See the target language

A quick task using the teacher's curated phrases for this function.

  3. Step 3 · Rewrite
    Apply what you've learned

Rewrite each of your four sentences using the target language, plus per-sentence feedback.

  4. Step 4 · Practise
    Write a full response

    A 150-word Task 1 essay on a Task 1 chart.

  5. Step 5 · Feedback
    Examiner-aligned grading

Task Achievement, Coherence, Lexical, Grammar - plus per-item target language usage.

  6. Step 6 · Summary
    Coaching + next steps

A personalised summary of how you did and what to practise next.
