We want you to get value from IELTS Writing Task 1. This Refund Policy explains how cancellations and refunds work for the two ways you can buy access — subscriptions and one-off credit purchases — together with your statutory cooling-off right under UK and EU consumer law.
For questions about a specific charge, email hello@ielts-writing-task-1.com with your Stripe receipt number. We respond within five working days.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel them from your account settings. When you cancel:
- You keep access to subscriber features until the end of the current billing period.
- You are not charged for the next billing period.
- We do not refund the unused portion of the current period.
If you accidentally renewed (for example, you intended to cancel but forgot) and you have not used any AI-marked lesson in the current billing period, contact us within 14 days of the renewal charge and we will refund it at our discretion.
Credits
Credits are sold in batches and do not expire. Once purchased, credits are non-refundable — they hold their value indefinitely against future AI-marked lessons, which is the value you paid for.
The only exception is the EU/UK 14-day cooling-off below.
EU/UK 14-day cooling-off
Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 — and the equivalent EU consumer rules — you have a 14-day right to cancel a digital service contract starting on the day of purchase.
For our Service, this means:
- You may cancel your first subscription, or your first purchase of credits, within 14 days of the purchase and receive a full refund — provided you have not consumed any AI-marked lesson during that window.
- Once you have used an AI-marked lesson (which we consider the service to have been performed under Regulation 37), the cooling-off right lapses.
When you confirm a purchase, the Stripe Checkout flow tells you that the service starts immediately and that you accept the loss of the cooling-off right once the service is used. The button text reflects this.
Service-failure refunds
If the Service fails — for example, a paid AI marking job is charged but never produced any feedback — we will refund the affected lesson or credit on request. We aim to do this within five working days. Outages affecting the free quota are not separately refundable but we will, at our discretion, extend or top up your account where the failure was material.
How to request a refund
Email hello@ielts-writing-task-1.com with:
- The email address on your account.
- The Stripe receipt number from your purchase confirmation.
- A short note describing what you'd like refunded and why.
We aim to respond within five working days. Refunds are processed back to the original payment method through Stripe and usually appear within 5–10 working days depending on your card issuer.
Statutory rights
This policy doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Where UK or EU consumer law gives you more protection than this policy, those laws prevail.
